I am a New York-based private advisor and curator. I founded my consulting firm Vail Caldwell Projects in 2016. Drawing on expertise in modern and contemporary art, I engage with confidentiality and discretion in long-term planning with collectors, artists and artists’ estates. Guided by specific aesthetic interests and goals, I collaborate with a select group of private collectors on building meaningful collections by establishing their vision, strategy and budget.
In addition to my role as advisor, I am active as an independent curator and serve as advisor to the Estate of Stuart Davis. Recent projects include a collaboration and presentation at Independent 20th Century 2024 with Alexandre Gallery of the early work of Stuart Davis, Night Moves; a group exhibition titled Think of Salad Days in 2024 for Morgan Lehman Gallery; and Lines Thicken: Stuart Davis in Black and White for Kasmin Gallery, 2018.
Following graduation from Northwestern University, where I serve as a member of the Advisory Committee to the University’s Block Art Museum, I completed graduate studies in art history at Williams College. I have served on the board of SculptureCenter in Long Island City, juried numerous shows, taught art history, participated in panels and am a past recipient of a Kress Foundation Grant. I welcome your inquiries.
